This year we will take you to some of the most remote places in the south of Switzerland. These roads are unpaved and less traveled and will lead the way to the Checkpoints – and more important, to the Dolci!
We are super excited to share this years five checkpoints of DEAD ENDS & dolci.
This ride will be a mix of all kind of surfaces. Some fast rolling tarmac, some champagne-gravel and a little bit of gnarly rough stuff to spice things up.
All in all you will be fine on a Gravel-Bike with 40-50 mm tires or a fast rolling Mountainbike. (this ride is not made for Roadbikes!)
The most important thing will be gears!! Bring the easiest gears you can find! 😉
Dolci Camp – Start & Finish
Around this little hut, outside of Bellinzona will be our Dolci-Camp, where you’ll be welcome around the clock. We will have everything you need: homemade food, a bar, coffee, gelato, campfire, showers, …
We have decided, that riders are allowed to come back to the camp during the ride! You can rest at the camp, get a shower or fuel up with some fresh food from our kitchen. This possibility to reset gives more riders a chance to finish and to be fresh enough to enjoy the ride – and that’s what is most important!
Checkpoint Adula
This is two Checkpoints in one. When you reach the dam at Lago di Luzzone you will spot three tunnels side by side. We couldn’t resist and will let you play Tunnel-Bingo. Which one will lead to the place you wanna go? Plan carefully or pass the tunnel and see for yourself. One will lead you to the Viewpoint Garzott (which you have to visit first!), one will lead you towards Checkpoint Adula, and the third? It leads leads in the wrong direction…
To get the Dolci and the Stamp at the Checkpoint Adula, you have to go to the Viewpoint Garzott at the end of the lake first! At Alpe Garzott you will find a box with “Dolci-Coins”. Take one and bring it to the Checkpoint at Capanna Adula to receive your sweet reward!

Checkpoint Malcantone
-
Stamp at Monte Faeta
-
Dolci at Cima Pianca
At Checkpoint Malcantone you will get your Stamp at Monte Faeata and your Dolci at the Cima Pianca Hut (1.2 km Distance in between).
So plan your route to visit both in any order you want. Stamp or dolci first, doesn’t matter.
Checkpoint Corona dei Pinci
This is a true classico and our most mediterranean climb with views over Lago Maggiore. There is a paved road that leads almost to the little stone-hut, that is our checkpoint. There is no accommodation or restaurant at this Checkpoint.
Checkpoint Palazi
A charming little hut in the middle of nowhere, high above the Calanca valley and our only Checkpoint in Canton Graubünden. There is no infrastructure, just the hut and a fountain with fresh water.
Checkpoint Prabello
Rifugio Prabello is our first ever Checkpoint in Italia! Only a few meters across the border – but Italia!
Many different ways, paths and trails lead to Prabello. Which one is your favourite?
Our goal is to offer you the best possible riding in Ticino. Therefore we have a layer of roads, which riders aren’t allowed to ride on. Mainly ugly and dangerous mainroads, and some to spice things up a little. 😉
(riders are allowed to cross these roads in a direct way)
